The Beginners Guide to Meditation

Meditate. If anything, for the breaks.

Who can’t relate to being ON and ON THE GO all day, everyday? That is a recipe for stress. People love to talk about how healing doesn’t come from sitting quietly meditating. These are the people that need it most because when one is faced with themselves, there is no place else to go but inward for the answers. How else is anyone supposed to achieve the necessary “unpacking” it takes to overcome patterns of thought and being? It takes discipline to maintain a consistent wellness practice. It is this discipline that allows us to see ourselves more clearly in order to form new and healthier relationships with ourselves and those around us. It is this self-awareness that provides us with the answers and direction we often seek outside of ourselves, looking aimlessly for someone or something to tell us how to heal. That can only come from one’s own essential nature. Maybe meditation is needed to help relieve stress and anxiety and to help positively get through the day. Maybe it’s needed to help deal with past trauma and pain and hurt that is manifesting in your daily life.

By introducing this easy and simple practice, you take control of your relaxation and stress response, naturally. Levels of concentration, memory, and creativity are heightened. Studies have also shown that a regular meditation practice can help relieve stress and anxiety, lower blood pressure, and decrease tension held within the body.

By giving yourself the permission to take a break a couple times throughout the day, you provide your mind and body the time and space it needs to rejuvenate itself, so it can continue on and from a place of clarity and calmness. The hardest thing about meditating is getting started and finding a style that works for you. People often struggle with incorporating a meditation practice into their busy lifestyles.

Finding a coach can make all the difference in not only starting but, also maintaining a consistent meditation practice. A meditation coach will not only teach you the fundamental aspects of meditation and how to meditate successfully, but will help you develop a program that works for you and your lifestyle.
